Anybody else notice this revolving door out at JEB? Third Superintendent in 6 years and coaches come and go, and third school board president in 4 years. hhhmmm?

don't know facts on "what" is going on out there, but teaching staff can change every year easily.

school board memebers can change with every election.....

so not sure what you are getting at about the revolving door..

Default The revolving door...

Coming from a school teacher's family, I can tell you that it's not uncommon for there to be a lot of turnover at schools like JEB. Many teachers coming out of college have to start in jobs with smaller districts and gain experience before a large district (which typically pays better and has better benefits) will hire them. Same with people entering the administration ranks. They have to start at a small school and gain experience before a larger school will given them consideration.

From what I have seen over the years, two or three years for an administrator at a school the size of JEB is about par for the course. There are, of course, exceptions (Larry Klinefelter was superintendent at Conway for several years and he retired in that position) but for the most part schools like JEB are entry-level positions for teachers and administrators. While such turnover makes it hard for a district to develop a sense of continuity, this is the way it has been in small districts for many decades.

As to the school board president, I believe that the board elects that position within their body annually. As there are elections each year, I don't see this as being out of the ordinary.

I also come from a educational family, and as a former JEB student, I have personally seen a few things happen out there that make you wonder. Jeff Plake wasn't looking for a better deal, heck, he took a pay deduction to leave the district. Rob Haupt was let go as coach ...then leads a junior high team to an undefeated season. They go half a year with a substitute teacher as their Social Studies teacher....when they had a certified Social Studies teacher already working as the ISS instructor. These are the "facts" I know.

the way i see this,
since not all of lebanon can relate to the school issues there, you are singing to the wrong choir. why not get parents and tax payers in that district involved and get tot he bottom line of teachers not doing what they were hired to do.
as far as turnover goes, again, like it was said earlier, no expeience with fist year teachers or first year administrators so they start at the small schools and stay there long enoughto be hired at a larger paying school.
turn over was a issue where i went to school at as well, including administrators, and it was a town of 5xxx people...

Didn't know I was trying to get Lebanon to relate. This post was about a JEB Superintendent. As a former student, I've always liked the uniqueness of this school. I never wanted it to be like Lebanon. I wanted it to be JEB. And for your information, you obviously don't know the history of JEB. In the past (70'thru about 2004), there was never a big turnover with personnel at JEB. This has only been happenoing in the last 5 or 6 years.

my point was with people outside the jeb district has no say in what goes on out there since we do not pay our property taxes to that district.
again turn over is going to happen regardless the size of the district regardless of what your personal experience has been there
