I thought it was an excellent depiction of dumbass hillbillies being dumbass hillbillies.
Your thoughts?

I saw the previews and found it unconvincing. The main characters all had too many teeth.

The hillbillies in Deliverance were more realistic.

I expected better acting with Costner in there.

But I did think that it was very good. |

I enjoyed watching it and figured there was alot of Hollywoodizing but the story line stayed pretty close to the true history of it.
The old fued to me was about one man who was too proud and another who was too vengenful. If you've ever done any back country traveling in West Virginia and Kentucky you can still feel the weariness of strangers there not just because of this fued but for various other reasons like boot legging and the government guy etc... Interesting enough I read that the McCoy's wanted access to a cemetery where there kin was buried on Vance property and the Vance descendants refused but finally allowed it. Even though there was an actually peace treaty signed by Mccoys and Hatfields in either 2008 or 2003 I bet there will always be a lingering mistrust of the other. |

Most young people probably never heard of the Hatfields and the McCoys. So now they are aware that they exist. Those young people that watched it. So this is good.
This isn't any different than the inner city gangs. |
