Default Swim team

The Lebanon Y Stingrays performed very well at the Lebanon YMCA Invitational last weekend. There were approximately 100 swimmers from the YSWAM (YMCA's of the Southwest Area of Missouri) league competing. Overall, the team took 3rd place of 6 teams, and was neck and neck with the second place team, Carthage. Individually, high point trophies were earned by Jason Price, 13, and Ian Williams, 6. The team was also able to certify 6 parents to become swim officials and referees by taking the Officials I class. This will greatly benefit the team, as they will now be able to have "official" YMCA meets that will allow them to compete in such meets as the YMCA district championship meet held at the Mizzou Natatorium in March. Those that qualify at Mizzou will be given the opportunity to swim in Chicago in April.

They will have their next meet in Carthage on October 22nd. This will be the second of 3 official meets needed to qualify for Mizzou. It will also be a "virtual" YMCA meet, meaning that all YMCA's in the country will virtually "compete" against each other by having a local meet and inputting the times in a computer database. This will allow the kids to see how they compete nationally against other YMCA swimmers in their age group. All in all, the team continues to make tremendous improvements and a good time is being had by all!
